Allen West has made a career out of escalating his extremist political antics. Now is no different.

Yesterday, the West campaign aired another dishonest ad attacking the 99% candidate Patrick Murphy. He has continually used the same stale talking points that have been rated “false” by Politico. If Allen West spent half as much time answering questions about how he’s going to serve working families as he does attacking Murphy, he might be a viable candidate for Florida’s 18th district.

Unfortunately, Allen West’s business-as-usual is an embarrassment. If you ask me, our community should take action and send him packing.

Fortunately, we’re in a position to do just that. It’s up to us to elect someone who speaks to our issues and concerns. We deserve fair wages, healthcare, and good jobs for the middle class.

No matter how many lies Allen West tells, the truth is we can’t waste another minute. We have to knock on doors, call our neighbors to tell the truth, and make sure they vote to set the record straight.

Palm Beach, Fl.  The Bain Worker Bus ended a month–long tour tonight (Oct 20) in wealthy Palm Beach. The Bain Worker Bus has taken current and former employees of Bain Capital-owned companies across the country to educate swing voters about Mitt Romney’s economic vision for our country.

 Workers from Palm Beach County, Miami and the Treasure Coast joined the Bain Worker Bus to protest Romney’s last Mega-Million Fundraiser before the election.  A stark contrast between the 1% and 99%, the fundraiser required a minimum $50,000 donation. It would take more than three years for the Bain workers on the bus – who make the federal minimum wage of $7.25 or slightly more – to earn that much.

 “I know firsthand what a Romney Economy looks like,” said Richard Hooten, who’s worked at Burlington Coat Factory in Houston, TX, for over a year. “It is Outsourcing good American jobs, slashing wages and benefits, and devastating our communities. I work hard, but struggle to pay my bills every month and I can tell you: the Romney Economy doesn’t work for me and it won’t work for America.”

 The fundraiser will be co-hosted by Marc Leder, whose previous fundraising event became notorious for Romney’s game-changing “47 percent” remarks.  “The 47% includes people like us – seniors, veterans, students and low wage workers, who paid into the system their entire lives, said Alicia Keller, a retiree.  To make matter worse Allen West supports Romney’s assessment of the 47% and panders to the 1%.   

 Besides the colorful yellow bus painted with STOP the Romney Economy, there was also a 15’ silver spoon reading “Romney is the 1% “and a banner proclaiming “Romney – No Billionaire Left Behind.”  The streets were lined with people chanting and waving signs.  They even came prepared with their own humorous menu (attached) with items like Minced Minimum-Wage Miso and Well Braised Wealth Inequality.  Wealthy attendees could not avoid hearing or seeing the protesters. 

 After kicking off in St Louis, MO, the tour stopped in Freeport, IL, where 170 workers at a Bain-owned Sensata plant are facing imminent outsourcing of their jobs to China and calling on former Bain CEO Romney to intercede on their behalf. Workers then traveled to, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and to the presidential debate in Hempstead, NY.  

 After a Boston, MA, stop on Thursday that included protests at Bain Capital and Romney campaign headquarters, the Bain Worker Bus ended its tour in Florida.

 “I came on this tour to make a difference,” said Calvin Johnson, a Detroit native working at Guitar Center in Los Angeles, where he moved after graduating with a degree from the Berkley College of Music. “First, to make a difference in my life by making my voice heard, but also to make a difference for 99% voters across the country. We deserve a fair shot at the American Dream, but we won’t get it in a Romney Economy.”

Allen West voted against legislation that would protect troops from
foreclosure, funding for medical research to help wounded warriors,
and even voted against the ban on baggage fees for troops heading into
combat zones.

We believe, plain and simple, that our elected officials should represent our best interests and serve as our voice in the halls of power. As residents and voters in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast, we have done everything we can to speak out for the 99% — and let that message through to our congressman.

Unfortunately, Allen West is more concerned with stirring up controversy than enacting policies that would make a difference in our lives. Conflict and controversy is not what we need — that’s not what’s important to us.

But for the past two years, that’s all Allen West has delivered. Whether it’s disparaging remarks about the 99% or ideological propaganda about trickle-down economics, Allen West has found his stride as a political lightening rod who is more concerned with his national profile than the needs of his constituents.

We need a congressman who cares about health care and raising the minimum wage, and one that is committed to an economic agenda that lifts up working families — rather than rhetoric that tears us down.

It’s up to us to make an informed decision about who we send to Washington. Since Allen West has chosen to ignore working families in our community, he deserves the same future he’s promised us — and it starts with the classifieds in the morning paper.

Fortunately, we can do better than West. Patrick Murphy has given a voice to the 99% and supports our priorities. But don’t take our word for it. Here it is, straight from Patrick Murphy.

WASHINGTON  -  Police had to intervene at a Wednesday night campaign event for Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) after protesters unfurled a giant banner trashing West and attendees retaliated by throwing beer, ice cubes and even a salt shaker.

West was minutes into his speech outside of Pirate’s Cove hotel in Port Salerno, Fla., when a handful of protesters came out onto a balcony above the event and began shouting, TCPalm reported Thursday. The protesters, who were with a group called Stand-Up Florida and who specifically rented out a hotel room to crash West’s event, rolled out a banner that read, “Allen West is out of touch, Allen West is out of office.”

From there, the event devolved into disarray. Andrew Mina, a field director for Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign who was in attendance, yanked the banner down as West supporters booed and threw “water, ice cubes, beer and a couple of middle fingers” toward the balcony, the newspaper reported. Meanwhile, the protesters used a megaphone to shout criticisms of West’s economic record and play an audio reel of controversial comments made by West in the past. Demonstrator’s brought a 15 foot silver spoon which said Romney is the 1% and a large banner stating Romney/Ryan “No billionaire left behind” The visuals and our activists’ comments to the press were right on mark since the fundraiser was held at billionaire, coal magnet, Chris Cline’s mansion.

The fundraisers were at the exclusive Seminole Golf Club Community in North Palm Beach. To attend the VIP photo reception required a minimum $10,000 donation. The second fundraiser in the same neighborhood required at least a $50,000 donation.

Even a Romney supporter said to the press I hope he comes back soon and meets with the ordinary people, not everyone has the money to attend his fundraisers. Wow, get a clue; Romney doesn’t care about you or anyone in the 99%.

The media helped get our message out as you can see from the video. Together we can make an impact on this election.

Stuart, FL – Constituents who for months have been clamoring for serious attention from Rep. Allen West to what matters most to them now – crucial economic issues impacting ordinary working families, seniors and others not in the richest 1% — on Wednesday ( Sept. 26) will announce that they are fed up and plan to work to oppose him.

“We’ve been calling on West to back an economy that works for everyone but he just kept rubberstamping ‘trickle down’ economic approaches that we all know only make the rich richer,” says Alicia Keller, a retiree who has participated in numerous protests.

Tammy Howe and other constituents — who call themselves “99% voters” — will hold a GOTV kick-off protest at Pirates Cove Resort where West will be speaking. They will be hitting the streets beginning Saturday (Sept. 29)] to knock on doors and run phone banks to elect a representative to Congress who stands firmly with the 99% of people here who are not ultra-rich.
